Fourteen Ateneo Grads Now Licensed Chemists
Fourteen Ateneo chemistry graduates formally received their professional licenses during the Oath-Taking of New Chemists held at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel last 14 October 2005.
One of the fourteen new Ateneo chemists, Mitzi Lynette Ang (BS Chemistry 2004, BS Computer Engineering 2005) received a medal from the Professional Regulatory Commissions (PRC) Board of Chemistry for ranking seventh place among the 254 chemistry board passers in the Philippines.
Overall, the Ateneo de Manila University ranked as the second top-performing school in the recently-concluded licensure examination. In behalf of ADMU, the Dean of the School of Science and Engineering (SoSE)and the president of the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines (ICP)Dr. Fabian M. Dayrit accepted the award during the ceremony.
Two of the new Atenean chemists are now faculty members of the Ateneo: Ellazar Niangar (B.S. Chemistry and BPI Science Awardee, 2004) is an Assistant Instructor who divides his time between teaching at the Chemistry Department and working at the National Chemistry Instrumentation Center; Olivia Erin Buenafe (B.S. Chemistry 2004, M.S. Chemistry candidate) is a part-time Assistant Instructor.
Two other members of SoSE-Chemistry Department received their licenses: Joanna Maria San Pedro (UP-Diliman, BS Chemistry 2005) joined the Department as an Assistant Instructor last June and Jaime Rene Perez (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, B.S. Chemistry 2004) is one of the departments stockroom technicians.
ICP inducted all of the newly-licensed chemists.
