The fund-raising done in the Ateneo Chemistry Alumni Homecoming was moderately successful. Almost 75% of the target amount of P2M was raised and pledged for the W.J. Schmitt Foundation while almost 50% was gathered and promised for the A.F. Kapauan Chair.
The Department of Chemistry is grateful to everybody who contributed in the fund-raising: sharing of ideas, soliciting, encouraging, donating whether big or small, praying, etc. This would not have been possible if not for all those who helped.
All the alumni thank in a special way the erstwhile Anonymous Donor, Mrs. Anita Lim, mother of Dennis Lim (Ch ’90) for the “Matching” scheme which encouraged many people. The alumni also wish to acknowledge the donation last summer by Mr. Jason Cheng (Ch ’89, CE ’90) of P100K to the W.J. Schmitt Foundation.
The fund accumulated for the W. J. Schmitt Foundation is now being allowed to earn interest and the amount can be used next year for identified projects. The A.F. Kapauan Chair fund is still not yet enough to have its interest utilized. The summaries are found below.
Those who wish to contribute are still welcome. This contribution can be made by getting a Homecoming VCD for a minimum donation of P500 (plus cost of shipping).
